She broke my throne and cut my hair. Happy summer. When you are ready we are here for you.

I have been saying since it came out. We all got samples. Lets all jump on the band wagon to MAKE MORE MONEY…

At the same time putting ourselves and our clients at risk. For what???

What ever happened to accepting what God gave us I mean I know we all could used some love and improvements but where do we draw the line of maintaining ourselves and who we are. Why do we always want to be someone else or look like someone else. Why can’t we embrace our curls or our hips or big but and say. YES I LOVE ME ANYWAY… Fuzzy hair and all.

All these Beauty companies make claims that sometimes are just wrong and lies. Lets talk about the blow dryers that add moisture as they dry your hair. HELLO??? Seriously are we that stupid to believe a $400 blow dryer is going to save your hair.

How about comb your conditioner through really well and let it air dry.

Everyone thinks you need ten products to make your curls work. How about one good one or here is an idea. NONE. Just see what happens for the FUN of it.

Lay Off the Flat iron and let your personality come out even if its not perfect.

What is perfect anyway??? Who is Perfect???

You are. Just the way you are. Don’t change for me. Do it for yourself.

If someone said they serve poop at the restaurant down the street. Would you still eat there? I got an idea. KEEP IT CURLY.

Lots Of Love and Peace.

I was lucky enough to work with Odile back in the 90′s when she really just started doing a lot of shows.

We used to sleep on her floor in her apartment in Paris and in the morning sew wigs until it was dark. It was crazy.

The only thing we really did was work and go out at night. She was awesome to work with even though my french was not the best

she would make sure we all got it. She would use me a s a model for the fancy stuff because I had hair close to the models so I would be able to feel what she was doing and it helped make me a better hairdresser by feeling how it worked as well as seeing it. She is a brilliant woman and an amazing artist and an absolute crazy woman.

The Maestro of Hair

Crazy is a good thing and the passion she has for our craft is out of this universe. Work with her and see. If you can survive. She does not deal with cry babies and prefers you work your ass off.

Its what she did and does…

Do it.. http://www.allure.com/

Check out Odile’s book Her Style. Its pretty awesome.

It all started when I was 13 years old. My first trip to NYC. I was so stoked I couldn’t believe it. The first night we got in kinda late. My Mother doesn’t know this story. Yet.

We Stayed at the Essex House across from Central Park. Mom, dad my sister Deanna and myself. We were there for a Intercoiffure atilier. That’s a really Fancy name for a world class hair show.

After we checked in to our rooms and said goodnight laying in bed and hearing the vibrations from the layers of sound and energy. I couldn’t sleep for the life of me. I had to escape this 5 star hotel for at least this moment. So I took off down the hallway down the elevator Through the main lobby into the streets of New York City like I felt home for the first time and free to do whatever and go wherever I wanted.

Nobody looked twice. It was 2 o’clock in the morning and this 13 year old kid is walking though the blowing cold air shooting news papers into the sky like paper airplanes. It was crisp and clean and dirty, bright and dark at the same time. I will never forget that night. I was struck like a bolt of lightning. It hit me, the pulse of New York Changed my life my heart and my soul for good.

New york City made me strong and gave me an education on Art, Food, Fashion and Style. Life and travel. The friends I made in New York are the Movers and the shakers. We were and are and always will be New Yorkers even if we don’t live there. Its in our Blood.

For the next ten years I came and went to New York for many reasons mostly if not completely for work or love. Or both for the same reason if not both the same.

I moved to New York City for good When I was 22. after almost 10 years straight and a couple years going back and forth from LA to Phoenix to New York and after being on my rooftop on September 11, 2001 I decided to start over. 10 years later I am doing it again.

There is nothing like The New York skyline . I was lucky enough to live downtown and Loved it. My friend Andrew Einhorn and I use to skate board, roller blade or bike down there everyday we could. It was breath taking to fly under the towers on anything and even to sit and look up was just awwww. My friends and I would go to party’s every Wednesday we were in town on top at Windows on the World.

I had a personal relationship with “the buildings” as I always called them. In my opinion there were no others in a weird way. The were the tallest in the sky.

Anyone that ever came to visit it was a must to get on a bike or board and ride under the towers. Ask my friends. To feel the wind and look up at such monsters of architecture. So much mail went in and out of the buildings they had their own zip code.

Tomorrow September 3rd 2011 join me and my friends downtown Phoenix for a sneak preview of the NYC collection of pictures.

2505 north 7th street 7 to 9 pm

If you can’t make it don’t worry. Mark your calender for 3rd Friday of September. September 16 from 7 to 9. I will be playing a video Andrew Einhorn made in tribute for the 9/11 events…

We Were There and My life will never be the same.

Crazy stuff and I feel blessed to be able to tell you these stories and share with you a collection of Photographs and videos.

God Bless and be Grateful.

Salvador Calvano

We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams wandering by lone sea-breakers, and sitting by desolate streams: World-losers and World-forsakers, on whom the pale moon gleams: Yet we are the movers and shakers of the whole world for ever, it seems.

Sometimes I am not really a fan of a lot of before and afters. Sometimes I like the before better. I am the kind of hairdresser that loves long, Pretty, healthy hair. Sometimes when hairdressers do outrageous crazy things just for the wow factor is not my thing. I tend to fix a lot of that kind of thing. We all have our style. That’s what makes us different.

My Professional client’s, My lawyers and moms don’t want to look like they were in a hair show, on stage or the center of attention. Cut my hair in a way that works best for me. I don’t want stripes of any color let alone 5 different colors. Please please please don’t make me look like a tropical fish or rare bird. I will lose my job.

Just give me a great haircut and cover my grey so it looks like I dont have any and no one can really tell I color my hair.

Oh I have curly hair but everyone wants to straighten it. Why?

I love my curls…

Take the Brazilian blowout and stick it.

My name is Salvador. I am the Brazilian Blowout.

Just because everyone else is doing it dousnt mean you have to.

The right haircut will work no matter what you do with it even if you don’t do anything.

Salvador Calvano
